Recent Financial Ombudsman Service data shows that equity release complaints continued to decline in 2025, with upheld cases remaining low compared to traditional residential mortgages. Of the complaints reviewed in Q3 2025, only a small proportion were found to relate directly to equity release, and just 12% were upheld or partially upheld, compared with 32% for standard mortgages
